Caring for Your Live Microgreens

To keep your microgreens fresh and happy until you’re ready to harvest:

  1. Light – Place your container on a bright windowsill, under kitchen lighting, or under grow lights. Direct sun isn’t necessary, but they like some light.

  2. Watering – Keep the coco coir slightly damp. Mist the surface lightly once a day, or add a few tablespoons of water to the edge of the container if it feels dry. Avoid overwatering - the mat should feel like a damp sponge, not sopping wet.

  3. Harvesting – Snip what you need with clean scissors or pinch stems just above the roots. Harvest early for the most tender bite, or let them grow a little longer for stronger flavors. As they mature, taste may shift slightly - try them at different stages to find your favorite.

🌿 Storage Tips

  • Live Mats: Keep at room temperature with light and water as described above. This is the best way to keep your greens fresh, since you can cut them right before you eat. Mats stay happy for 7–10 days after pickup or delivery. Refrigeration isn’t ideal, but you can chill a mat for a day or two if needed to slow growth.

  • Cut Greens: If you prefer to harvest ahead, store cut microgreens in an airtight container lined with a paper towel to absorb condensation in the fridge. Eat within 3–5 days (hearty varieties, like pea or sunflower, may last up to 7 days).

✨ For the very best flavor and nutrition, harvest directly from your live mat right before eating
